Accenture Venture Invests In Telehealth Testing Service Ixlayer

Accenture is constantly evolving the spectrum of its operations through investments in some of the quickest-growing sectors internationally. Most recently, this took form through its capital injection of ixlayer, a provider of technology-based solutions for diagnostic testing. Ixlayer is the newest addition to Accenture Venture’s Project Spotlight, an investment program that connects the Global 2000 with emerging tech software startups in an attempt to minimize innovation gaps.

Currently, ixlayer has been developing a telehealth platform that offers a variety of virtual health testing procedures. The company connects clients to a seemingly endless healthcare ecosystem of services and enables them to benefit from the increased accessibility of at-home testing. The company’s recent initiative to implement COVID-19 diagnostic testing has resulted in 340 nationally implemented programs that cater to over half a million patients.

The COVID-19 pandemic has played a huge role in how telehealth services are perceived publicly, with many speculating that the industry will continue to grow even in times of pandemic recovery. According to a recent Accenture survey, 60% of patients said that based on their experiences with telehealth during the pandemic they would be interested in continuing use of telehealth services in the future. For companies like ixlayer, this incline of telehealth demand will serve as a breeding ground for technological innovation and a reinvention of traditional healthcare testing methods.

“Accenture Ventures’ investment in ixlayer reflects our mission to support companies that are poised to transform their industries and meet our clients’ most pressing needs,” said Tom Lounibos, Managing Director of Accenture Ventures. “ixlayer is leading the charge toward connecting the varied, complex components of the healthcare system under one umbrella to provide simplified, end-to-end services. We’re excited to collaborate with them on this enormous opportunity.”

Since its founding in 2018, ixlayer has launched hundreds of testing programs for health systems, organizations, and government sectors nationally. With special attention towards the security, usability, and technical soundness of its growing platform, ixlayer has the potential to revolutionize the world of virtual health testing services.
