Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI, said CGI’s expertise in large-scale software transformation helps enterprises deploy Codex across areas such as legacy code modernization, code review automation, vulnerability detection, and application development.

While CGI initially used Codex for software engineering, the tool is now being deployed across a wider range of roles to automate code reviews, detect vulnerabilities, and manage complex knowledge work. The firm’s objective is to move organizations beyond basic tooling and into repeatable, integrated deployments where agentic AI supports multi-step processes. Dave Henderson, Chief Technology Officer at CGI, emphasized that the technology’s success depends on how it is woven into existing value chains, stating, “Generating business outcomes from Agentic AI isn’t just about tooling or adoption, it’s about engineering, embedding and integrating agents at the core of how work is done.”

This expansion includes global innovation bootcamps and specialized training programs designed to strengthen the “human edge” in AI-led transformation. By combining OpenAI’s research and product expertise with CGI’s experience managing mission-critical IT environments, the companies are targeting clients that need agentic AI embedded into existing systems and workflows. The collaboration is intended to lower the barrier for employees across roles to design and manage digital solutions using natural language.
