KPMG US Names Peter Zalkind as Managing Principal of Sacramento Office

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering its presence in Northern California, KPMG US announced the appointment of Peter Zalkind as the managing principal of its Sacramento office, on August 7, 2023. This decision comes as part of the firm's ongoing efforts to strengthen its health and government solutions advisory practice and enhance its collaboration with Microsoft.

With over three decades of consulting and technology industry experience, Zalkind brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. Prior to joining KPMG in 2018, he spent 12 years at Microsoft, where he held various pivotal roles, including sales director for the Pacific Northwest and industry solution manager for public sector cloud. Notably, he also served as a managing consultant, showcasing his prowess in driving strategic initiatives.

Before his tenure at Microsoft, Zalkind played a crucial role at Deloitte for three years, where he was at the forefront of e-government initiatives. He began an illustrious career at EY, eventually rising to the position of senior manager. Throughout his professional journey, Zalkind consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a penchant for delivering results.

As the head of KPMG's Sacramento office, Zalkind will assume responsibility for charting the office's strategic direction, ensuring sustainable growth, and fostering the development of partners and professionals. This move comes as Marc Hollis, the current office head and a tax partner, prepares to retire in 2024 after successfully leading the 150-person office for three years.

Lisa Daniels, Vice Chair of Growth and Strategy at KPMG, expressed her confidence in Zalkind's appointment, emphasizing his proven track record of success and his deep commitment to KPMG's clients and teams. Zalkind brings three decades of leadership, a passion for excellence, and a proven track record of success with our KPMG clients and teams," Daniels remarked. "I look forward to the great things he will achieve leading our Sacramento office and in the community."

KPMG, one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the United States, boasts a workforce of over 35,000 employees and an impressive annual revenue of $13.71 billion. This recent appointment aligns with the firm's overarching goal of leveraging top-tier talent to drive innovation and deliver exceptional service to its clients.

In a bid to further strengthen its regional foothold, KPMG earlier this summer appointed Ruby Hancock as the managing partner of its Memphis office, underscoring the firm's dedication to nurturing local leadership talent.

Zalkind’s role will be instrumental in shaping the office's future trajectory, driving growth, and nurturing the development of partners and professionals.
