OpenAI recently launched a dedicated consulting and services business named The OpenAI Deployment Company, securing a $14 billion valuation. The new entity, nicknamed DeployCo, launched with a $4 billion capital injection at a $10 billion pre-money valuation, with OpenAI maintaining majority control. Private equity firm TPG served as the lead investor, backed by co-lead founding partners Advent International, Bain Capital, and Brookfield. Goldman Sachs represents the sole financial backer involved in both this venture and a comparable deployment initiative from rival frontier lab Anthropic.

The transaction structurally alters the professional services landscape by securing direct equity investments from three legacy consultancies: Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey & Company. Additional corporate backers funding the vehicle include B Capital, BBVA, Emergence Capital, Goanna, SoftBank, Warburg Pincus, and WCAS. Engineered to capture enterprise technology budgets as spending shifts from pilot programs to scaled implementations, the entity has already begun acquiring technical market share by purchasing forward-deployed engineering firm Tomoro. Under the structured investment terms, private backers receive a guaranteed minimum 17.5% return with overall profits capped.

The alliance integrates proprietary technology research directly with the legacy firms' client networks to bypass data, systems integration, and change management barriers inside complex corporate environments. Capgemini, a founding member of the OpenAI Frontier Alliance, will utilize closer product engineering access to embed operational controls across client workflows. Concurrently, Bain & Company will deploy the tech across its private equity diligence practice to accelerate product development and intelligent automation throughout the deal cycle.

The joint deployment model positions the consulting heavyweights to capture a greater share of the growing market for AI-enabled business transformation. "The challenge now is helping companies integrate these systems into the infrastructure and workflows that power their businesses," stated Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI. Chuck Whitten, global head of Bain’s digital practices and capabilities, added that "investing in the OpenAI Deployment Company reflects our conviction that neither world-class strategy nor world-class technology alone is enough."
