Renew Consulting Acquired By Pathways Health And Community Support

Pathways Health and Community Support, LLC (“Pathways”) announced the acquisition of Renew Consulting in a September 28 press release. The acquisition marks a move by the company to expand its behavioral health services offerings into inclusive, community-centered environments as part of an aggressive growth strategy that included the acquisition of three subsidiaries of Community Intervention Services, Inc. in October 2020.

Pathways, founded in 1997 as Providence Service Corporation, made its reputation as one of the largest providers of behavioral and mental health services in the United States before being acquired in 2018 by Atar Capital. With a mission to improve the lives of people in need of behavioral and mental health support by empowering health and wellness, the company employs more than 5,000 staff members in 19 states across the country, offering a full spectrum of social services in addition to employer-based workplace health and well-being seminars.

Renew Consulting was founded in 2004 by Kathy Aronson in Salem, Oregon and is currently headquartered in Albany, Oregon, providing services focused on carefully matching clients with caregivers in nine Northwest Oregon counties. Employing over 200 people, the company supplies customized support for individuals with disabilities and mental health needs, providing 24-hour care in community-focused residential homes.

Jill Winters, the CEO of Pathways and a former United Healthcare executive, stated, “Renew is a fantastic company with an experienced and dedicated team passionate about serving their clients and community. This acquisition aligns with our mission to improve lives across the country and I am delighted that, together, we will be able to deliver a full array of behavioral health services in Oregon.”

By acquiring Renew Consulting, Pathways will grow its reach into Northwest Oregon, providing services such as case management, foster care, counseling, autism services, telehealth, parent education, substance use services, and supportive employment in addition to the 24-hour care that Renew Consulting is well-known for in the state. While the details of the acquisition were not made public, the U.S. behavioral health market stood at $68.79 billion in 2020 and shows strong growth, setting up Pathways for a solid strategic position in an expanding industry.
