Tegria, Looking To Strengthen Healthcare Consulting Capabilities, Makes New Acquisition

Cumberland Consulting Group, founded in 2004, started out as a provider of IT consulting services to a variety of industries. Seeing a growing demand for healthcare IT consulting services, the firm began focusing exclusively on the healthcare industry. Through a series of acquisitions, the company expanded its managed services capabilities and later focused on its ability to offer specialized consulting to the payer and provider markets. Having been named to the Inc. 5000 list for ten consecutive years, the company brings along a well-established track record of customer-focused successes.

Now, Tegria has announced its acquisition of Cumberland. The new acquisition is intended to drive the growth of the recently launched Tegria, founded by Providence in October 2020 to provide technology services and support to the healthcare sector. The newly launched endeavor now consists of more than 3,000 employees spread across the U.S.

According to Anders Brown, Managing Director of Tegria’s Consulting and Technology Services Group, “Cumberland has a stellar reputation for technology expertise and advisory services, with outstanding talent at every level of their organization...They share our values and sense of mission, and there’s a strong cultural alignment between us. We’re excited to see Cumberland join Tegria, and we’re looking forward to working together on behalf of our health care customers.”

Tegria’s acquisition of Cumberland brings an expansion to its capabilities and reach, specifically in core claims and benefit administration systems in addition to care management systems.  Tegria’s existing consulting expertise will also be reinforced by Cumberland’s experience in the strategy, optimization, and integration of enterprise healthcare IT systems.

Post-acquisition, Cumberland will continue to operate with its existing leadership team and employees as an independent business unit residing within Tegria’s consulting and technology services group. Its current customer portfolio will continue to be supported as the company partners with Tegria to provide new combined offerings and collaborate on mutual clients.

With the healthcare IT space in need of highly specialized knowledge and expertise as it continues to modernize, this latest acquisition by Tegria looks to be just the beginning of a valuable contribution to the industry, and ultimately, to the patients it serves.
