In supply chain management and logistics, developing a brilliant strategy is only half the battle; the true test of any design lies in its real-world execution. For Netherlands-based logistics consultancy Groenewout, the movement from concept to operation has become a core signature. Led by Managing Director Alain Beerens, the boutique firm advises organizations on optimizing their supply chains by providing integrated, end-to-end solutions for complex logistical and construction management challenges.
The firm's hands-on approach explains why more than 60 percent of their business comes from returning clients. Instead of handing over a plan and stepping away, Groenewout stays on-site through the entire project lifecycle, pairing technical analysis with an internal culture that gives individual consultants the autonomy to act as direct, trusted advisors to the client.
In this conversation with The Consulting Report, Alain discusses the critical transition from theoretical logistics design to real-world execution, the operational realities of warehouse and distribution center projects, and the empowerment-focused leadership model that drives their team.

The Consulting Report: How does your firm differentiate itself from competitors?
Alain Beerens: More than 60% of our projects come from returning customers. We see this as a strong endorsement of the value we deliver and the long-term relationships we build. Our involvement goes far beyond the initial design and definition of detailed requirements. We support our clients throughout the entire project lifecycle, from developing innovative logistics concepts to managing their construction, implementation, and operational integration. By combining strategic insight with hands-on execution, we ensure that logistics solutions are not only well designed, but also successfully realized. The Consulting Report: Can you share client examples that demonstrate Groenewout’s capabilities?
Alain Beerens: My Jewellery is a fast-growing Dutch fashion and jewelry brand that has evolved into a leading industry player since its foundation in 2011. Today, it has more than 39 bricks-and-mortar stores throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France, plus a strong online presence. My Jewellery opened a new, 10,000m² distribution center (DC) in the Dutch city of Den Bosch. The company enlisted the help of logistics consultancy Groenewout for the design, supervision of the construction work, logistics setup and realization.
Marel is the leading global supplier of advanced equipment, systems and services for the poultry, meat and fish processing industries. Marel has opened a brand-new warehouse in the Dutch town of Boxmeer. The new facility, right next door to the factory, is a perfect fit with the manufacturer’s growth strategy and will enable further professionalization of its logistics processes. Marel enlisted Groenewout’s expertise for the design, layout and realization of the new warehouse.
“We believe that ownership drives growth: when consultants are trusted to take end-to-end responsibility, they develop faster, learn continuously, and experience a stronger sense of purpose and reward in what they do.”
The Consulting Report: How would you describe your firm’s culture?
Alain Beerens: We believe in consultancy that delivers results. Our recommendations are based on facts, figures, and thorough analysis, combined with a pragmatic approach focused on implementation and measurable outcomes. Our consultants bring hands-on experience in both the design and realization of logistics operations and supply chains. This practical expertise enables us to develop solutions that are not only strategically sound, but also operationally achievable. Working as professional and trusted advisors, we collaborate closely with our clients and leverage the collective expertise of our team to deliver sustainable improvements and lasting value.
The Consulting Report: What leadership philosophy guides you?
Alain Beerens: Our leadership philosophy is built on empowering individual consultants with full responsibility and accountability for their work. We believe that ownership drives growth: when consultants are trusted to take end-to-end responsibility, they develop faster, learn continuously, and experience a stronger sense of purpose and reward in what they do. This approach also enables true autonomy in client engagement. Consultants are encouraged to act independently and decisively, directly supporting customers as trusted advisors rather than intermediaries in a rigid hierarchy. By combining accountability with freedom, we create an environment where expertise flourishes, relationships deepen, and consultants deliver meaningful, high-impact value to clients.
