CGI is rolling out a native AI upgrade across its flagship government ERP platform, bypassing the security and data risks that usually tank public sector software projects. The consulting giant is embedding automated reasoning directly into CGI Advantage's core finance, HR, and procurement workflows. The move lets state and local agencies activate localized AI features without having to bolt on risky, disconnected third-party applications.
The core of the deployment centers on structured data compliance and risk mitigation. The system introduces configurable, role-based, and auditable AI features alongside Samantha, an in-application AI assistant that navigates localized client documentation to guide public employees through complex transactions. Furthermore, the platform now utilizes autonomous agentic workflows capable of coordinating actions across separate departments. These agents are bound by built-in controls and enterprise guardrails to ensure that public data usage remains transparent and that human operators retain final approval over all official decisions.
This internal automation strategy mirrors CGI's own development methodology, which uses an inside-out model to run tools like Codex across its own engineering lifecycles through its expanded Global Alliance partnership network. The platform upgrade allows agencies to selectively activate specific AI functions depending on localized regulatory mandates and security policies. Emphasizing the necessity of strict structural oversight in public administration, Surabhi Subramanyam, Senior Vice-President of Government Solutions at CGI, stated that the platform "embeds AI directly into ERP processes with built-in controls for transparency, security, and oversight" to deliver operational value.
