Sentara is partnering with Infosys to build a common AI foundation across its hospital, business, and technology operations. The health system plans to use the infrastructure to move AI projects beyond isolated pilots and into areas including care management, employee productivity, and digital patient services.
Infosys will deploy Topaz Fabric, its suite for connecting AI models, data, applications, infrastructure, and workflows. The companies said the system will give Sentara shared technical standards and development tools for introducing AI into existing hospital and enterprise processes.
Governance is a central part of the project. Sentara plans to use enterprise controls to evaluate potential use cases, manage regulatory requirements, and expand successful pilots across its business and IT teams. The work is intended to help the health system deploy AI more consistently while keeping clinical and operational oversight in place.
Sentara operates 12 hospitals and a health plan serving more than 1 million members, giving the collaboration a broad range of possible applications. The announcement, however, does not identify specific AI tools, deployment dates, or expected savings.
“As we continue to advance our digital strategy, working with Infosys enables us to take a thoughtful and scalable approach to AI adoption across the enterprise,” said Sentara Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer Jamisson Fowler. He said the collaboration is intended to improve efficiency and care delivery while remaining secure, compliant, and patient-centered.
