Profile

Stephen Ambrose has been a meteorologist, physical scientist, and program manager in his federal and private sector career. He has directed teams and groups in the development of science and technology research, data management, and applications in Earth Science. After 35 years of Civil Service work related to meteorology, climatology, and applications at NOAA, at the Department of Interior Fish and Wildlife Service as Director of the National Wetlands Inventory Center, and at NASA Headquarters, he retired in 2014 from Federal Service. From 2014, he worked in private industry as Program Manager and Director supporting NOAA, NASA – and the EPA missions in operations, research and development. Ambrose currently leads the growth of the SAIC Climate Enterprise program office, supporting federal, industry, state, and local customers as well as utilizing SAIC’s deep experience in science and technology for solutions to benefit society. Most recently, under Ambrose ’s leadership, SAIC received a 3 year NASA grant to study the impact of Artificial Intuition to better understand wildfire risk. He received a B.S. in General Physical Sciences from the University of Maryland. Later, Ambrose did his graduate studies in geography and climatology at the University of Maryland, Geography Department.
