Cognizant Acquires Digital Engineering Firm Hunter Technical Resources

Cognizant, a leading digital engineering consultancy specializing in information technology and outsourcing IT services, has been on a roll of acquisitions this year, recently announcing that it will be acquiring its sixth company in 2021. The company in question is the Atlanta-based, privately held digital engineering and project management agency Hunter Technical Resources.

For Cognizant, who has recently focused on expanding its catalog of digital offerings, this means a new opportunity to grow in areas that Hunter Technical Resources already excels in such as full stack development, system architecture, machine learning, and data science technologies. Hunter Technical Resources is a 20-year veteran of the IT industry and a leading service provider of IT-staffing for the information technology and engineering fields. Though the company will continue to independently operate its project management business, Cognizant will now have access to the full scope of Hunter Technical Resources assets.

"This acquisition expands Cognizant’s access to the highly-specialized expertise our clients require to accelerate their digital transformation journey. Hunter Technical Resources has a long track record of sourcing high-value IT talent for blue-chip clients. Their unique, blended focus on technology and relationship building fits perfectly with Cognizant’s digital engineering franchise and our own client-first culture. We’re thrilled to expand our digital engineering capabilities in the U.S. as we welcome the Hunter team into our software product engineering family," said Rajesh Nambiar, President of the Digital Business and Technology sector at Cognizant.

Hunter Technical marks the third tech-based acquisition that Cognizant has made in the last year. The company has previously acquired custom software development service Magenic in February, and Tin Roof Software in the last quarter of 2020. This, in addition to the acquisition of Texas-based software engineering leader Softvision in 2018, only reinforces the expansion potential for the digital engineering giant.

Cognizant is a multinational company employing thousands of engineers across its major development sites located in the U.S., Argentina, Australia, Canada, India, Mexico, the Philippines, and Romania. Along with its digital acquisitions this year, the company has recently acquired TQS Integration, ESG Mobility, Servian, and Linium.
