Oliver Wyman Expands Technical Consulting Capabilities with SeaTec Acquisition

Global management consultancy Oliver Wyman has entered into an agreement to acquire SeaTec Consulting, an Atlanta-based firm specializing in technical consulting for transportation, aerospace, and defense markets. The acquisition is set to enhance Oliver Wyman's technical consulting and services, particularly in the aviation, aerospace, and rail industries, as SeaTec's expertise aligns with the company's Cavok division.

Founded in 2000, SeaTec Consulting provides engineering, digital, and consulting services to address operational and technical challenges in asset-intensive industries. With practices spanning engineering services, systems engineering, operations, supply chain, safety and compliance, digital services, software development, and system integration, the consulting firm serves clients globally and employs more than 250 professionals across offices in Atlanta, Bellevue, Bloomington, and Cardiff.

Upon completion of the acquisition, SeaTec will become part of Oliver Wyman's Cavok division, which focuses on technical consulting and services for the aviation, aerospace, and rail sectors. Cavok division was initially formed in 2007 through Oliver Wyman's acquisition of the company, a Dallas-based aviation services and consulting firm. Over the years, the company has expanded its capabilities and geographic reach through strategic acquisitions, including TeamSAI in 2015 and Avisa Aviation Safety Systems in 2017.

The Cavok division specializes in assisting clients in adopting the latest safety standards, enhancing process efficiency, and streamlining maintenance processes in the aviation and transportation industries.

Brian Prentice, Partner at Oliver Wyman, expressed optimism about the combined capabilities of Oliver Wyman, Cavok, and SeaTec, emphasizing the impact they can make in operations, cost management, reliability, and safety across aviation, defense, and transportation.

The transaction is expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2024, marking another strategic move for Oliver Wyman following its 2022 acquisition of Avascent, a Washington, DC-headquartered aerospace and defense sector consulting firm.

Headquartered in New York, Oliver Wyman operates globally with over 7,000 professionals across more than 70 cities in 30 countries. The firm specializes in providing consulting services across strategy, operations, risk management, and organizational transformation.

Paul Harper, Managing Partner of SeaTec, expressed enthusiasm about the growth opportunities and the collaborative future with Cavok and Oliver Wyman, highlighting the shared values and respect for Cavok's team and capabilities.
