Boston Consulting Group Named COP27 Exclusive Consulting Partner

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP27, has named global management consultancy Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as its Exclusive Consulting Partner. The conference will be hosted in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt from November 6 through 18 and will bring together both public and private sector leaders to continue efforts to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement.

“COP27 is another critical moment to mobilize public and private actors in the urgent pursuit to limit global warming. We are honored to play a role in support of COP27, hosted in Egypt,” said Christoph Schweizer, Chief Executive Officer of BCG. “At COP26, we saw progress across a broad agenda, but we need to go further and faster, even in spite of the global economic downturn and geopolitical challenges.”

As the Exclusive Consulting Partner for the conference, BCG is responsible for supporting the COP27 Presidency of Egypt with its analytical capabilities and industry insights, drawing on its deep experience in helping companies, governments, and multinational bodies accelerate climate and sustainability efforts. The firm has a long history of supporting the global climate agenda via partnerships with the World Economic Forum, Science Based Targets Initiative, Carbon Disclosure Project, UN High Level Climate Change Champions, First Movers Coalition, multiple COP presidencies, and Breakthrough Energy Catalyst.

2022 marks the second successive year BCG has been named Exclusive Consulting Partner, with the firm having supported COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, as well as having supported the Moroccan Presidency of COP22 in 2016. The firm has been a long standing supporter of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as the gold-standard process for coordinating the global fight against climate change, and the firm brings deep expertise on the subject through its work with governments and large corporations the world over.

BCG was welcomed as COP27’s Exclusive Consulting Partner by COP27 President-Designate Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, who indicated that the Egyptian Presidency of COP27 is looking forward to BCG’s support in the preparations for the coming conference. As the Presidency’s Consulting Partner, BCG will provide crucial support in the efforts to spur the international community toward more aggressive action in tackling climate change.
